FOCUS

Tyler Tabernacle purchased a 14-acre tract of land for relocation. The property they purchased was on a major thoroughfare connecting communities to the east to the city of Tyler and the site offered high exposure opportunities by daily commuters. Top priorities for this project were to create a distinctive visual signature within a limited budget and taking advantage of the visual exposure.

STRATEGY

The master plan took into account the potential for this increased visibility and plans for future growth. Phase I of the master plan included the auditorium, education, fellowship and administration facilities. Future phases included the family life center, school and classroom wing, which were designed in a linear format along the main thoroughfare to take advantage of the extended frontage the site offered.

The Phase I building consisted of a pre-engineered building system with conventional facade materials of brick, glass and plaster at high visibility areas. The architectural continuity of form and character for future phases of this project is ensured as consideration was given to future availability of the exterior materials so they will be readily available when Phase II is developed.
